Hiba Alalami

IUPUI American Studies Ph.D. Student, Research and Development Director at the League of Women Voters IN

Hiba Alami is a nonprofit professional who believes in making a difference in people’s lives. She holds a graduate degree in Nonprofit Management from O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs and has more than a decade’s experience in the nonprofit sector. She worked with Muslim nonprofits in different capacities, with the latest being the inaugural executive director of the Indiana Muslim Advocacy Network. She is currently the Research and Development Director at the League of Women Voters of Indiana. She is also a Ph.D. student in the American Studies program at IU School of Liberal Arts.  

A Hoosier by choice, Hiba hails from the Middle East and has taken Central Indiana home for the last 15 years. She is guided by her faith, Islam, and feels rewarded when giving back to the community. She serves on the board of directors of the Fair Housing Center of Central Indiana. She is also the Treasurer of the Arab Indianapolis Foundation, and a co-founder of the Muslim Women Giving 100, a giving circle for Muslim women to leverage their faith tradition in support of charities in Central Indiana.  

Hiba is a mother of three children, Ali, Sarah and Adam and a wife of a loving husband, Mohammad Alhaddad. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, cooking, fitness and reading books.
