An eviction is forever: How the legal, financial and emotional costs can persist for years

Being evicted from one’s home is obviously traumatic, yet that trauma doesn’t end. The consequences of evictions are long-term. While Indiana now has the ability for one to have one’s eviction expunged, it’s not easy or fast. In the meantime, those with an eviction on their record find it nearly impossible to rent a home or apartment. Oftentimes, a small amount of money can enable a family to recover from whatever caused them to be delinquent and save them and society the long-lasting trauma of an eviction.
