This is a creative, compassionate way to address affordable housing. Why aren't more employers creating housing for their employees?
In Hendricks County, leaders created hundreds of well-paying jobs by attracting warehouses. But the labor pool for these jobs is far away in Marion County. There is no affordable housing in Hendricks County, so potential employees must decide if two hours of travel each day is worth it. Many don’t have reliable transportation. Our proposed solution? A feeder bus route that connects with IndyGo. Great, if you’re at the Transit Center at 5:10am. It makes economic sense to create affordable housing near these workplaces, both for the potential workers and citizens of Hendricks County!
