GIMA Joins Indiana OSAH Initiative
GIMA, along with representatives of Foster Success, Indiana Association of Area Agencies on Aging, St. Joseph County Community Forum for Economic Justice, CareSource, Grassroots Maternal Child Health Initiative, and the Indiana Justice Project, is part of the inaugural Engagement Team for The Hoosier Housing Needs Coalition’s (HHNC) Opportunity Starts at Home (OSAH) campaign initiative.
The Hoosier Housing Needs Coalition works in partnership with the National Low Income Housing Coalition and represents Indiana in their Opportunity Starts At Home (OSAH) national campaign.
The campaign’s vision is, “The nation’s historically marginalized households and those with the lowest incomes live in safe, accessible, affordable homes in neighborhoods that are free from discrimination and where everyone has equitable opportunities to thrive.”
Its mission is, “Build a movement with stakeholders from many sectors to generate widespread support for federal policies that correct long-standing racial inequities and economic injustices by ensuring quality housing for people with low incomes.”
The Engagement Team’s key policy strategies are:
Expand rental assistance for every income-eligible household.
Expand the stock of housing affordable to households with the lowest incomes.
Stabilize households by providing emergency assistance to avert housing instability and homelessness.
Ensuring equity in housing by eliminating barriers and discrimination.
GIMA is proud to represent the congregations of Indiana, among this group of caring nonprofits, to end Indiana’s affordable housing crisis.
