Housing First is a proven solution to homelessness in America

GIMA guest blogger Fran Quigley contributed this great article at The Hill about Housing First. Data shows that it is a proven solution that, at the least, dramatically reduces chronic homelessness and at the most, ends it. Maybe more importantly, Quigley makes the connection between homelessness and the housing industry. As shown in their book Homelessness Is A Housing Problem, Gregg Colburn and Clayton Page Aldern show that the primary cause of homelessness is a lack of affordable housing inventory. In his clinic representing tenants facing eviction, Quigley sees first-hand the direct connection between evictions and homelessness. Sadly, the two industries don’t coordinate or work together. We need to end that!
