Indiana Emergency Rental Assistance - Portal Closing

The Indiana Emergency Rental Assistance portal is closing July 29, 2022 as evictions continue to rise both in the city of Indianapolis and statewide.

The reason IHCDA gives is, "The IERA program works by reserving 18 months of assistance for each approved household. Households may exit the program early and not use the funds, which means those funds reserved for that household are then recycled back into the program. This recycling of funds causes the amount of funding available to vary frequently. To allow program staff to review pending applications and assess remaining funds, the IERA application portal will be closing on July 29, 2022."

Basically, they're overwhelmed and staff can't catch up. People are facing homelessness - Indiana Housing & Community Development Authority, hire more staff!
