Only tenants facing eviction will be eligible to apply for IndyRent from now on.

The repercussions of this are staggering. Evictions in Indianapolis (and Indiana) continue to rise as does homelessness, no doubt caused (in part) by evictions.

Indianapolis Business Journal just reported the first grant from the $1.25 million the city received from the Bezos Day 1 Family Fund in 2020 to reduce family homelessness. That's great, we need to address homelessness especially for families. But it's those same families who are homeless because they are being evicted.
