Calling the Indianapolis Community for Support: Family Winter Contingency Shelter Wish List Needs
Aspire Indiana Health seeks assistance from the community to ensure families with children have their basic needs met at the overflow Family Winter Contingency Shelter set to serve families in need of winter shelter through March 31, 2025.
Family Winter Contingency Shelter Donation Instructions:
- Drop-off Location: Door 4 at 2107 N. Riley Ave. Indianapolis, IN 46218 (formerly IPS Susan Roll Leach School)
- Drop-off Times: 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM

Overflow Family Shelter Background: The City of Indianapolis’ Family Winter Contingency Shelter operated by Aspire Indiana Health is preparing to begin serving families with children who need shelter this winter at the former Susan Roll Leach IPS Elementary School at 2107 N. Riley Ave. For families seeking shelter, please contact 211 for connection.
Immediate Needs: While the overflow shelter building is operational, service providers are seeking help from the community to ensure families experiencing homelessness have basic necessities, comfort, and support while at the overflow shelter. A Family Winter Contingency Shelter Needs List includes everyday items like disposable plates and utensils for serving meals, toys and games for kids, hygiene and first-aid items, non-perishable breakfast foods and snacks, and warm clothing items for winter.
Our Ask to the Community: Please consider supporting families with children who are experiencing homelessness in Indianapolis this winter by dropping off identified items listed below or sending them directly to the site via Amazon: Family Shelter Wish List. Your generosity provides comfort and relief to families who are struggling to make ends meet. We ask that you provide only the types of items listed but various varieties and sizes are welcome.
