'It's bad over here': Todd Rokita's office sues Willow Brook apartments on north side

The Attorney General’s office launched an investigation into Willow Brook Apartments and its Michigan-based property management company Beztak. The complex’s owners, New Jersey-based Willow Brook Gardens LLC are included in the suit.

Unfortunately, this is not an anomaly. The story is common throughout Indianapolis and across the state. Out-of-state bad actor landlords act with impunity and our laws allow it. What’s notable in this case is that it appears that tenant complaints brought the complex came to the attention of the AG’s office. Why did this instance get their attention when so many others, as bad or worse, go unnoticed?
