The second webinar in a three-part series called Prosperity Indiana Advocacy Academy that will empower you as a nonprofit advocate and prepare you for Prosperity Indiana's Statehouse Day on February 2nd, 2023.
Advocacy 101 will provide an understanding of what advocacy means for nonprofit organizations and staff, and the legal issues involved in influencing public policy. Advocacy 102, on the other hand, is all about how to advocate. When you go to draft that call to action tweet, what do you even say? If you want to get a meeting with a legislator, how do you do that? When you do get that meeting, how do you successfully make a compelling case for your cause? This workshop, led by Prosperity Indiana Policy Director Andrew Bradley and experienced partner advocates, will prepare you to strategically engage on the policies that interest you.
Participants will learn:
The power of ongoing relationships with legislators and how to develop them
The how-to's of sharing data and anecdotal evidence on an issue
Ways to incorporate 'the business case' in any argument for or against a policy
How to craft a pitch that is personal to your organization & community
